Truly an experience that took our party of 4 back 5 centuries. The facilities are marvelous in that their reconstruction captures the artwork and thereby the essence of 15th and 16 century lifestyles in Tuscany. The introduction of modern facilities in no way counters the beauty of the castle, but on the contrary enhances the experience of today's contemporary traveler, who may just bicycle to the castle in order to fully breathe in the countryside, but upon arrival, would like to shower and dine at his/her convenience.
There were six of us in our party and we were all ‘blown away’ with Villa Carolina, both inside and outside, as we were warmly shown around by Gabriel & Lucia. The place was beyond expectation, and the fact that the weather was beautiful obviously helped us see it in its best light. We spent a glorious week there, relaxing by and in the pool most mornings and dining in the garden as often as we could. We all agreed it was our best holiday and would be keen to go back, as it was a superb base to visit the breath taking region of Tuscany. Thank you!
My family enjoyed an amazing week this summer. The rooms were all spacious and nicely decorated including bathrooms for each , most ensuite . The pool was sparkling clean with comfortable lounge chairs with an outstanding view . Rosado was very gracious, extremely helpful and spoke English very well. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone to wishes to immerse themselves in the gorgeous Tuscan countryside.
This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! The compound of Flavia was so recently renovated that we felt like we were in a brand new modern apartment when we were inside and in a charming little village when we were outside. The grounds are beautiful and inviting with a lovely pool and multiple seating areas as well as beautiful views. Check in and out was very easy! Our security deposit was returned in full. I forgot that 2nd floor in Europe is the 3rd floor to Americans. The staircase to our apt. on the actual 3rd floor was very steep and narrow. Had I known that, I’d have asked for a lower floor. I would have felt perfectly safe on the ground floor. All of the apartments, pool, and parking are in what is like a conclave and is secured by high fences and a locked gate. The owners could not have been nicer! We had quite a bit of trouble finding Flavia and would suggest a sign go up in the village as other vacation homes have done. I would also suggest good written directions.
I highly recommend Flavia! You will love the modern conveniences and the charming old world ambience. The location is fabulous – so close to Lucca, Pisa, and an easy drive to Cinque Terre and the Italian Rivera. I would also highly recommend Easy Reserve Vacation Villas as a booking agent. We loved out stay at Villa Caprera. It was beautiful as well as clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The location was great for day trips to most of the hill towns in Tuscany. Neighbors were very friendly. Be sure to visit the little market down on the corner. We had cappaccino there every morning. We enjoyed talking to Gabri and her husband (owners) even though we only speak a little Italian and they spoke a little English. We would definately go back!
It was very quiet and in a beautiful place. The house was well equipped, clean and the swimming pool is nice. The hosts are kind and helpful. We enjoyed everything.
Staying at Casa Ivan was the highlight of my trip to Italy. We rented the house for three weeks and used it as our homebase, coming back to it after a few days in different places around Italy. We were always very eager to get back to Cortona and Casa Ivan. The family who owns the home and live upstairs are the kindest people I've ever met and made us all feel at home and part of the family. We had wonderful baked goods, special treats, espresso in the afternoons in the kitchen upstairs. It was just a treat to be at Casa Ivan. I am already planning my return trip, they family truly strives to make their home feel like your second home. They are very successful at doing this and making you feel part of the family. The house is so comfortable, the grounds beautiful, the location relaxing. I can't get back soon enough!
Villasenaia "far" exceeded our expectations...it was absolutely fabulous. We "will" stay again. Our week there was, by far, the highlight of our stay in Italy. In a word....stunning. Our host was incredibly cordial, engaging and overwhelmingly friendly. We had the time of our lives at Villasenaia. Like I said....we will be back.
