This is a lovely villa and very well fitted out. It is pretty much how I imagined a Tuscan villa would be. The villa is situated high on a steep hillside, so giving excellent views of the valley in which Lucca and other towns / villages are located. The pool area is beautiful And also provides excellent valley views. Would have loved to stay longer than a week. The official description as being 7 kms from Lucca is correct but visitors need to be advised that a car is essential. There is some steep and procarious driving in the final approaches up the hillside to the villa My only criticism is having to find 1,000 Euros in cash for the bond to be paid on arrival. This is a lot of foreign currency to be left with at the end of your holiday for which we must pay the conversion fee. A credit card imprint would be a much better solution.
We enjoyed very much our stay in Gloria Forti's Villa in Casaglia. We spent a long time studying places until we found this lovely rural retreat near San Gimignano.
Well appointed (more suitable for 1 couple & perhaps a small family) we made great use of our basecamp, lovely pool & a great fire in the fireplace(even though it wasn't really required - it looked good).
Very close to all the places to see in Tuscany, Florence, Pisa, Siena, Certaldo, Montacino & Montepulciano amongst others... Thanks Gloria, we hope to see you again.
We have rented villas in Tuscany in the past, however Villa Carolina surpassed all of our expectations. All of the amenities both inside and out were fantastic. Gabriel and Lucia the owners lived on site and were so helpful to us to keep us informed of various activities in the area (markets, wine festivals etc.)
be sure to ask Lucia to cook a Tuscan meal for you. It was a beautiful 5 course meal, served to us outdoors, overlooking the valley of vineyards and olive groves. we enjoyed it so much we asked for a second meal 4 days later. This is truly a memorable visit for us and would highly recommend it.
Great place to stay for families who want to explore Tuscany/Umbria area by car. Not really a destination vacation spot, though the villa/castle has a lot of potential to be so. Melanie as concierge was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable.
It was a pleasure to stay in il Lecchio. Nice ambiance, nice house on a splendid estate, bueno tenuto as you say. TI will recommandate it to my friends, I did already.
We spent a lot of time reviewing villas in Tuscany to meet our holiday requirements. We wanted a place that was very handy to a local village (so as not to drive after sampling lovely Italian wine), had to have a lovely swimming pool, and that beautiful, old style rustic feel. Villa Podernovo met all of our requirements. The village is certainly not touristy but has a nice restaurant, supermarket and excellent wine shop with a very knowledgeable and friendly host/owner. Unfortunately we were there during the coldest May in 80 years and did not get to enjoy the swimming pool. We stayed in the Mansarda apartment in the attic which was very lovely with stone floors, a great bathroom and adequate cooking facilities. After travelling for 2 weeks we really enjoyed being able to cook our own food. Due to the unseasonal weather the apartment was a little cold initially, however when we asked to get the heating turned on, it was not a problem. From that experience it seemed that if you needed anything, you only needed to ask and it wasn't a problem. The setting is very romantic and we would love to return.
Wonderful villa that sits on a hillside with beautiful views. Lovely pool in warm weather, A remote location that is a little difficult to travel too and from but worth the ride.
We hired all 7 villas for my 50th birthday. As most guests were coming from Australia I wanted to make sure all went well. I needn’t have worried. From the moment I found Possarelli villa’s website they were great. Answered all my questions and gave me lots of options. They listened to my needs and found a great venue.
If I thought the people from Possarelli were great then Stefano and Sergio were amazing. They fully catered for my birthday, Feed us the night we arrived, offered advice on what do see and do. Arranged a great wine tasting at a local winery, including food, for us all at a moment’s notice. Sergio also gave a great talk on the history of the castle. Those who wanted to did a cooking lesson with the Master Chef Sergio. My 12 year old nephew was shaking with adrenaline afterwards explaining all he had learned. Finally, the local town had a great little pub/restaurant in it that we took over on the final night.
So in summary if you want to go to a place where the owners have a passion for great food, great service and go out of their way to make sure you take away the memory of a lifetime go to Fattoria San Polo
